New Year, New Yawp

Welcome to Life Worthy of Life!

It’s January of a new year and the anniversary of legalized abortion in the US is approaching. Because of the chaos of last year, it would be understandable if the tragedy of abortion is more of an afterthought going into 2021, but we don’t have to let it remain so. As Christians we can recall the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and at the same time resolve to not to be indifferent to the sin of abortion and do what we can to oppose it and contend for the lives it destroys.

Sarah’s Legal Peg

In January of 1973 Sarah Weddington, the pro-choice attorney representing the Roe of Roe v. Wade, faced the United States Supreme Court with an agenda. She was asked by one of the justices whether she placed a distinction within the stage of pregnancy of when an abortion could be performed:

“I knew that everyone, me included, was uncomfortable with the idea of abortion in the later stages of pregnancy. But I had been looking for a legal peg on which to hang an answer. There simply was not such a peg until birth.”

Sarah Weddington, A Question of Choice

I’m glad she admitted she’s at least uncomfortable with abortions being performed in “later stages,” but she is also admitting that at birth should be the limit of when abortions should be illegal. Forty-eight years later in 2019, Ms. Weddington was present when Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law the Reproductive Health Act for the state of New York which allows abortions until birth. And since Roe v. Wade was decided, calculating figures from both the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the pro-choice Guttmacher Institute, the number of abortions that have been performed has reached to over 60 million. I think that number is high enough to warrant a more fervent interaction from those of us who believe abortion is wrong, don’t you think?

Here are some additional facts that are not widely known or reported:

  • Roe v. Wade already allows abortion up to birth for the health of the mother

  • There is currently an underground network of women who perform abortions in case Roe is overturned

  • The primary abortion procedure is dismemberment and extraction. Babies are dismembered before they’re removed from the womb.

  • There is a market created for the exchange of fetal tissue and organs between biotech companies and abortion clinics for the sake of “medical research”

  • Planned Parenthood was founded by eugenicists who believed in furthering “good births” among their own race and preventing births among the poor, the “feebleminded” and the “unfit”

  • Abortion clinics are most prevalent in low-income communities and more black children are aborted than white children even though in most cities black people are a lower percentage of the population

resolved to shout

I stated above that there are those of us who believe that abortion is wrong, and there are. I also know that there are those who do not see abortion as right or wrong, but as a medical procedure that a pregnant woman should be able to choose to have done if she wants. If you are the latter person, I sincerely hope that with what I write here you will be challenged to change your mind and see abortion for what it truly is. If you are the former I hope you will take whatever you might learn from this site and share it with others.

The Nazi doctors, the eugenicists who founded Planned Parenthood, and unfortunately Sarah Weddington all believe that there are some lives that are worthy of life and some that aren’t. The acceptance and promotion of this idea is killing our civilization. The truth that God gives human life its worth and He decides who lives and who dies needs to be accepted and promoted more boldly and more consistently than the lie has been. This truth needs to be shouted from the rooftops, as it were, like the barbaric “Yawp!” of Walt Whitman. This is my mission for 2021 and I hope many of you will join me!
