Simon Khorolskiy “Избери жизнь” (“Choose Life”)
Hello again! I’ve neglected writing here for some time - I apologize! Life can get pretty busy with two teenagers, but I’m back and happy to be taking up writing again.
For my first return post, let’s turn to something uplifting. Allow me to introduce you to a unique and very talented musician.
Simon Khorolskiy is a singer and songwriter who was brought to the United States in 1992 by his Russian parents when he was two years old. His musical arrangements are so beautiful and most of his songs are sung in Russian, which, I think, sounds beautiful when sung. I was introduced to his music by a friend whose family is also from Russia and Moldova.
We love his songs because of the music, the distinct male and female voices, and the videos made to accompany the songs, but we especially love the choice of strong, biblical lyrics. Almost all of his songs come directly or indirectly from the Bible. When he chooses locations around his home in Washington state to shoot videos, the spectacular scenery aligns perfectly with God’s high and exalted Word being sung. Simon truly has a gift from the LORD.
All this will be evident to you when you view the video below. Turn on English subtitles and follow along. The song is titled, “Choose Life” and the lyrics come from Deuteronomy 30:19-20.
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
Enjoy! May He be your life and the length of your days;
